NYIOOC 2022 Goya Olive Oils



GOYA® Extra Virgin Olive Oils are once again recognised by NYIOCC 2022 as the best EVOOs in the world

For the fifth year in a row, GOYA® extra virgin olive oils captivated the jury at the New York International Olive Oil Competition (NYIOOC) 2022.

Just like at the 2020 edition, the GOYA® Unico, Organics and Robusto Extra Virgin Olive Oils obtained three gold medals, on top of a silver medal for its GOYA® Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

These four medals increase the awards received by GOYA® olive oils to 15 in the history of the contest, added to the over 200 international prizes the brand has been honoured with at competitions held on the five continents in the last five years.

The four NYIOOC 2022 awards obtained by GOYA® strengthen the value that Spanish extra virgin olive oil has among American consumers. “The 15 medals won by our olive oil at NYIOOC until today endorse the quality of our production and are an impetus to work with sector companies and organisations to consolidate the olive oil culture in the United States”, stresses Antonio Carrasco, the general manager of Goya Spain. “Once again this year, at Goya we are extremely proud of receiving these recognitions at the leading world competition, which will undoubtedly enable us to increase our premium quality production for potential customers in the markets of all five continents”, stated Carrasco.


GOYA® Unico. This premium EVOO results from the exhaustive and rigorous control of the olive from its harvest to the table. Its origin is based on the careful selection of Andalusia’s Hojiblanca and Picuda varieties.

Unico is a real experience for the senses and justifies the effort involved in its production. A blend that reminds fresh cut grass, green tomatoes and green apples. This mix of aromas makes for an EVOO of great complexity, with a perfect balance of bitterness and spice.

GOYA® Organics. It´s a coupage prepared using a mix of olive oils from different varieties (Picual, Hojiblanca and Picuda), carefully selected and harvested in the south of Spain in late October, the period when their flavor and aroma are at their most intense.

A blend of green fruit that reminds us of fresh-cut grass, green tomatoes and green apple. This mix of aromas makes for an EVOO of great complexity with a perfect balance of bitterness and spice that makes for a very pleasant flavor.

GOYA® Robusto. Made from the Hojiblanca and Arbequina varieties, GOYA® Robusto is a very balanced extra virgin olive oil with an intense green fruit profile that reminds us of fresh cut grass and herbs. In GOYA® Robusto, this freshness is presented on equal terms with the intensity of the oil, offering an excellent sensation on the palate. It has an intense green aroma that reminds us of fresh-cut grass and herbs. This is a very well-balanced EVOO that provides pleasant flavors on the palate.

GOYA® Extra virgin Olive Oil. This extra virgin olive oil is a coupage prepared from a blend of Hojiblanca, Lechín, Picual, Arbequina and Manzanilla varieties harvested in the south of Spain. GOYA® EVOO is recommended for all uses in the kitchen thanks to its great versatility and health benefits. With a sweet aroma that reminds us of ripe bananas, this is a very balanced EVOO with a low intensity of bitterness and spice that gives it a delicious and sweet flavor.


Organised by the publication Olive Oil Times, the NYIOOC Competition is one of the main world competitions and its results are considered the most prestigious guide on olive oils and their producers. The panel of judges is made up of experts who follow a technical protocol for analysing each oil’s characteristics and sensory qualities.

The 2022 edition saw the participation of 1244 extra virgin olive oils from 28 countries.
